JANAKPUR – Karnali Province earned their first Prime Minister Cup win through disciplined bowling, defending a small total to beat Koshi Province by 16 runs. The Ram Janaki Multipurpose Stadium pitch suited seamers, and Dinesh Adhikari stood out.
After electing to bat, Karnali's top order collapsed to 27-3 when Rabindra Shahi fell for zero. Bipin Shahi anchored the innings with a steady 63 from 98 balls, but Prem Kamat's four wickets led to Karnali being all out for 151 in 39.1 overs.
Koshi were favoured for an easy chase until Dinesh Adhikari bowled a relentless line and length, taking 5-27 and stalling the chase. Despite needing fewer than four runs per over, Koshi's batters failed to build any partnerships. Dipesh Kandel resisted with 26 but lacked support as wickets fell steadily.
Koshi’s middle order could not handle Karnali’s pressure, causing a collapse. Diwan Pun and Prakash Jaisi took two wickets each, halting any late recovery from Koshi’s lower order. Koshi fell for 135 in the 45th over, just short of the target. This win showed Karnali’s determination and sharp fielding in defending a small total.
