Just before the 23rd NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2082, the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum secured a sponsorship deal, with Siddhartha Bank Limited becoming the event's exclusive banking partner. The partnership was confirmed this week when Forum President Niranjan Adhikari and Suresh Raj Maharjan, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Siddhartha Bank, signed the memorandum of understanding.
Tomorrow, Thursday, Bhadra 18, the local sports community will come together for the much-awaited award ceremony. The event will be held at the Blue Pavilion Hall of the Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. This annual ceremony honours the great dedication and tangible achievements of top athletes, coaches, and other essential sports personnel.
Siddhartha Bank staff have made their intentions clear regarding this partnership. They see their financial contribution as an investment in the development of national athletics rather than merely a branding exercise. The bank emphasises identifying talent, creating opportunities, and building a competitive sporting environment. Bank officials believe that sports participation builds important capabilities in young people and also acknowledge that athletics projects national identity and pride on the international stage.
For 2082, the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award will present honours in nine categories. These include Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, and Youth Player of the Year; there will also be an award for Top Coach of the Year. The other categories are the People's Choice Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Special Award, the Para Athlete Award, and the Asian Sports Journalist Award.
The official list of nominees has already been published for five of these awards. Each year, the People's Choice Award attracts public interest. Five athletes from different sports are competing for this prize. The nominee list includes football defender Pooja Rana, mixed martial arts fighter Rabindra Dhant, and national cricketer Sher Malla. Volleyball star Mina Sunar and karate practitioner Sanumaya Thing complete the group.
To find out who has won the People's Choice Award, you must submit your vote before tonight's deadline, on Wednesday. Official public voting will end tonight. You can vote using the Khalti by IME digital wallet app, or directly through the official Facebook pages of the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award and Pulsar Nepal. The final count will decide who receives one of the most desirable prizes in national sports.
