SAFF Women’s Club Championship: Nasrin Sports Academy scores late to earn a draw against Transport United

KATHMANDU: Bhutan’s Transport United Ladies FC drew 1-1 with Bangladesh’s Nasrin Sports Academy in the SAFF Women’s Club Championship at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday, conceding a late equalizer.
With both teams already eliminated, Bhutan lost its lead in the final minutes and settled for a draw in its final match of the tournament.
Transport United appeared poised to win after a strong first half. Captain Pema Choden Tshering scored in the 38th minute, giving her team the lead, which they maintained for most of the match.
With three minutes remaining, Nasrin Sports Academy equalized through striker Sauravi Akanda, bringing the score to 1-1. Transport United finishes third with three points from four matches, having drawn three times. Nasrin Sports Academy places last with two points. Only the top two teams from the round-robin stage advance to the final. Nepal APF Club and India’s East Bengal Club have already qualified and will meet later today in the last league match, which serves as a preview for the title match.
