The 10th PM Cup NVL League began at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall in Tripureshwor, launching a week of competitive volleyball. On the opening day, both the Armed Police Force (APF) Club and the defending champions, Nepal Police Club, secured important victories to start their campaigns strongly.
APF Outmuscles Army in Departmental Derby
The tournament's opening match featured departmental rivals, as APF Club faced Tribhuvan Army Club. Setting the tone for the competition, APF won the contest 3-1, demonstrating effective tactical adjustments.
APF narrowly claimed the opening set 25-23 after fending off several Army set points. Army adjusted with aggressive blocking to win the second set 17-25. APF responded with powerful spikes and steady passing, controlling the next two sets 25-19, 25-19 to clinch three league points.

Defending Champions Police Club Sweep Aside Everest
In the second match, defending champions Nepal Police Club defeated Everest Volleyball Club of Butwal in straight sets.
Despite the final margin, Everest pushed Police in a tense opening set, forcing extra rallies before Police edged ahead 26-24. Police then leveraged sharp serves and quick attacks to sweep the next two sets 25-16 and 25-17. Usha Bhandariâs diving saves and decisive spikes earned Player of the Match honours.
A Competitive Road Ahead
Organised by the Nepal Volleyball Association, this yearâs league features six womenâs teams and eight menâs teams, all of whom qualified through the National Club Championship.
The opening day results highlight a widening gap between experienced departmental teams and emerging club sides. Yet, the resilience shown by Everest and the Army suggests upcoming matches will remain fiercely fought. As the league continues, it will be compelling to see whether departmental teams sustain their momentum or if an underdog emerges.
