KATHMANDU – The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has officially announced that the Women’s League is set to commence next month, signalling a rare streak of consistency for the domestic game.
Following a high-level coordination meeting with participating clubs at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato today, the governing body confirmed that the tournament will kick off on the 4th of the upcoming month. The news comes as a breath of fresh air for women's football, marking the second consecutive year ANFA has organised the league—a stark contrast to the Men’s ‘A’ Division League, which has remained in limbo for nearly three years.
While the Men’s National League is currently active, the top-tier 'A' Division has struggled for a slot on the calendar. In contrast, the women’s circuit has maintained its momentum, with the qualifying rounds for this edition already concluded.
In a move to ensure administrative readiness, ANFA has mandated that all participating clubs finalise their core rosters by March 13 (Phagun 29).
The coordination meeting featured key ANFA stakeholders, including CEO Indraman Tuladhar, Spokesperson Suresh Shah, and Tournament Director Sanjeev Mishra, as well as club representatives.
All eyes will be on the Armed Police Force (APF) Club, who enter the tournament as the defending champions. Having dominated the domestic circuit last year, APF will be the team to beat as the action returns to the capital.
The upcoming league is viewed by many as a vital platform for national team selection, especially given the rising profile of Nepali women footballers on the international stage.
