The Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) has released the 2025-26 Surya Nepal Golf Tour schedule, offering a record total prize purse of NPR 8.01 million across eight tournaments.
This season brings a major increase in prize money for the domestic golf circuit. NPGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya said the total cash prize is up NPR 1.278 million from last season’s purse of NPR 6.73 million.
The 2025-26 season starts with the Surya Nepal Central Open, set for December 29, 2025, to January 1, 2026, at Gokarna Forest Resort. This four-day opener offers a purse of NPR 1.05 million, with the top 18 pros competing for the title.
After the opener, the tour moves to the eastern region for the Surya Nepal Eastern Open at Dharan Golf Club from January 14-17. Next is the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at New Army Golf Course in Bardibas from January 27-29. The tour returns to Kathmandu in February for the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open (Feb. 10-13) at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC), with a purse of NPR 875,000. Action then shifts to Pokhara for the Surya Nepal Western Open at the Himalayan Golf Club from March 4-7, another major stop offering NPR 1.05 million in prizes.
In April, the Surya Nepal NPGA Match Play at RNGC (April 7-9) will use a knockout format and is open only to the top 16-ranked players, with a purse of NPR 425,000. The Surya Nepal Challenge takes place at RNGC from May 5-8, offering a prize of NPR 710,000. The season’s most prestigious event, the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, is held from June 2-6 at Gokarna Forest Resort and boasts the tour’s largest single purse of NPR 1.8 million.
Defending champion Rahul Bishwakarma leads a strong group of title contenders this season, including top-ranked pros Niraj Tamang, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Toran Bikram Shahi, Dinesh Prajapati, Sanjay Lama, and Rabi Khadka.
NPGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha highlighted the tour’s importance in growing the sport. " It has been instrumental in the development of Nepali golf," Shrestha said. "It continues to provide a vital platform for new talent to advance their careers."
