On September 25, 2026, in Friday afternoon's women's kabaddi semi-final at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium, India defeated Nepal 48-24. The win sends India into the final. Nepal, however, will leave the tournament with a guaranteed bronze medal after reaching the semi-final round.
From the start of the 1:00 PM match, India took the lead. They set the pace with well-thought-out attacks and maintained constant pressure. Nepal did their best to stay in the running in the first few minutes, but their defenders struggled to keep up with the speed and agility of the Indian attackers. As a result, India built a large early lead and, by the end of the first half, had established a commanding 31-17 advantage.
In the second half, India drew in their defensive lines and limited Nepal's chances of scoring. During the period, Nepal managed only seven points, while India's attack scored an additional 17 points. The referees officially recorded the result as a win by points, thus establishing India's 24-point lead.
The final statistics show the areas where India performed better than its opponents. The winning team scored 35 out points, seven bonus points, and six all-out points. Nepal, on the other hand, had 18 out points, five bonus points, and one single technical point. The difference in out points clearly shows how effective India's raiding strategy was.
Captain Pushpa led the Indian team, with Jyoti, Manisha Kumari, Nikita, Sonali Vishnu Shingate, Raj Rani, Pooja, Ritu, Bhavna Devi, Pinki Roy and Sanju Devi; the well-coordinated defensive and offensive performances helped them reach the final.
Captain Manmati Bist led the Nepalese team in the mat event. She competed with Nanu Maya Parajuli, Manisha Joshi, Menuka Kumari Rajbanshi, Jayanti Badu, Binita Pandit Chhetri, Asma Yadav, Mina Nepali, Rabina Chaudhary, Srijana Kumari Tharu, Khim Maya Khatri, and Ganga Ghimire. Because of their loss, their chances of winning a gold medal have ended, and they will leave the competition with a bronze medal to acknowledge the strength of their overall performance in the event.
The Indian team will move on to play the women's kabaddi final, and this decisive win confirms their position as strong contenders for the championship.
